See what changes
Amber marks the small part that carries the change.
Use short prepositions with destinations
Spoken ʿa- commonly points towards a place or direction. La- marks a destination and becomes lal- before the definite article il-.
towards a direction → to a destination
to the right
to the bridge
Both forms join to the word after them, but la- contracts with il- to make lal-.
Put the landmark after the position word
Direction words such as ʾiddeem and baʿd come directly before the landmark: ʾiddeem il-jisr, baʿd il-ishaara.
in front of → after
in front of the bridge
after the traffic light
Keep the landmark definite after either position word.
