How it works
See what changes
Amber marks the small part that carries the change.
One follows the item, while two often changes the item
Put waaḥad after a masculine item to stress one. For two, Lebanese usually uses the dual ending -ein instead of saying tnein separately.
one bag → two bags
one bag of bread
two bags of bread
Waaḥad comes after the full noun phrase. The dual -ein carries the meaning two by itself.
The counted item changes after ten
With three to ten, use the short number before a plural item: tleet ʾiṭaʿ. Twenty takes a singular item: ʿishriin ʾiṭʿa. The independent forms eleven to nineteen are listed on the number card.
three → twenty
three pieces
twenty pieces
Three takes the plural ʾiṭaʿ. Twenty takes the singular ʾiṭʿa.
